At Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, we understand that choosing a care home is a significant decision. Our admissions process is designed to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for new residents and their families. We are committed to providing a professional, friendly experience, with clear communication at every stage.

1. Viewing & Meeting

When you contact Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, we warmly extend an invitation to you and your loved ones for a personal viewing and introductory meeting. This initial visit, led by our experienced and caring management team, offers a comprehensive glimpse into life at Shannon Lodge. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to tour our facilities, from our comfortable resident rooms and relaxing communal areas to our beautiful outdoor spaces.

Our team will provide a thorough overview of our care philosophy and the services we offer, allowing you to gain insight into the attentive and personalised care we dedicate to each resident. We understand that choosing the right care setting is an important decision, and we are here to address any questions or concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and supported, knowing that we prioritise each resident’s comfort, dignity, and well-being.

2. Pre-Admission Assessment

Once you feel confident that Shannon Lodge Nursing Home is the right choice, we’ll arrange a pre-admission assessment. Our management team will conduct this assessment at a location convenient to you, whether that be a hospital, another care setting, or your own home. In some cases, it may be possible for the assessment to take place here at Shannon Lodge, although this is not typical.

This enables us to understand the unique needs of each resident. With the resident’s permission, we gather information on:

  • Social circumstances
  • Spiritual preferences
  • Medical history
  • Medication requirements
  • Current treatments or care plans
  • Any additional medical or professional support needed

3. Contract of Care

Once we complete the assessment to understand each resident’s unique needs and preferences, we will draft a tailored Contract of Care. This document clearly outlines the agreed-upon care arrangements, including the specific services and support that will be provided. Our team at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home values transparency, and we believe that establishing clear expectations from the outset helps create a strong foundation for our partnership with each resident and their family.

We work collaboratively with the resident and their loved ones to determine an ideal admission date. This date is selected with careful consideration of the resident’s preferences, needs, and any logistical considerations, ensuring that the transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible. Our goal is to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where residents feel at home from day one, while families have the assurance that their loved one is in compassionate, capable hands.
